Hi guys:
I would just like to ask a few questions as to what I should be looking at. I have lost a little power and I find that there is a little noise out of the front carb when running. I think I may have some exhaust valve issues.
I will try and do a leak down test and compression test. I will also pull the valve cover so that I can see things better. If there is a valve issue will I see any valve stems dropped or will it just be a dramatic change in clearance between each valve?
We changed the tranny during the Invasion and put a great deal of stress on the cab setup before we disconnected the linkage. I am not sure if this has cause the noise issue with the front carb so I must investigate. The cab may have a gasket/seal issue with all of the missing around with the engine. The carb also looks to be dripping a little as I see stains on the manifold, not a good thing.
I have never rebuilt an engine but it may be the time to pull the head, rebuild the top and and refresh the bottom end?
Any thoughts or things that I should be looking at would be appreciated. I just don’t want to go off in the wrong direction wasting time.

Andrew did you try spraying a little carb cleaner around the front card to see if it changed the idle? Do you have a vac gauge? Keep a fire extinguisher handy although I've neve heard of anyone have a fire. Or you could try using one or those candle lighter things to help find a leak. Spray around the area and listen for the engine to change.
I cant help ya with the valve question.

Andrew, don't jump to the last chapter of the book. Start at the beginning by pulling the valve cover and adjusting the valves. Pay attention to which valves are too loose or tight and approximately how much. This will give you some clues as to what is going on with the top end of the engine. After that, start it up and see what you have.
